The 1st meeting with the local stakeholders of the PICOBELLO project, co-organized by the Region of Central Macedonia and the Business and Cultural Development Centre (KEPA) at the premises of the Hellenic Design Centre on Thursday, October 24, 2024, was completed with great success.
This first networking event of the project about “Empowering the Green Transition with a Social Impact for Citizens and Local Communities” aimed to bring together local authorities, civil society organizations and academic/research/business actors, to discuss the opportunities offered by the PICOBELLO project, so that through the interregional exchange of knowledge, the integration of the basic principles of the New European Bauhaus (Sustainability – Inclusion – Aesthetics) in the relevant policy instruments is facilitated, in order to achieve the long-term green transition, co-creation and improvement of European citizens’ lives at local level.
A total of 21 people representing 13 different organisations took part in this meeting.
The programme started with the general presentation of the project PICOBELLO – Piloting Collaborative ways to Better Living Locally, as well as of the basic principles of the European Initiative New European Bauhaus (NEB) accompanied by examples of successful projects from all over Europe. The participants then had the opportunity to present the organisations that they represent, highlighting actions related to the New European Bauhaus in the sense that they aim at or take into account one or more of the elements of Sustainability, Inclusion and Aesthetics.
Afterwards, Konstantia Bessa, Executive of the Special Planning and Evaluation Group of the programme “Metropolitan Thessaloniki” Sustainable Urban Development Strategy of Thessaloniki of the Region of Central Macedonia, took the floor to present the Observatory of Sustainable Urban Development of the Urban Area of Thessaloniki.
Throughout the meeting, the interest remained intense and there was a substantial exchange of opinions, concerns and ideas.
At the closing session, reference was made to the next actions foreseen in the context of the project. The participants agreed to keep communication channels open with each other and renewed their appointment for the next semester.
