The 3rd Local Stakeholders Groups Meeting within the framework of PICOBELLO project was successfully held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Hellenic Design Centre in Thessaloniki. The event was co-organized by the Region of Central Macedonia (RCM) and Business and Cultural Development Centre (KEPA).
Under the theme “Enhancing Participatory Design in Local Initiatives and Communities of Thessaloniki,” the meeting aimed to foster constructive dialogue and cooperation among local authorities, civil society organizations, and representatives from the scientific, research, and business sectors. The goal was to:
✔️ promote the integration of the core principles of the New European Bauhaus (Sustainability – Inclusion – Aesthetics) into local and regional policies, and
✔️ support the green transition, co-creation, and improvement of citizens’ quality of life at the local level.
During the session, representatives of the Region of Central Macedonia presented the Region’s intention to incorporate actions inspired by the NEB principles into the upcoming funding cycle. The KEPA team also shared the outcomes of the 3rd Transnational Project Meeting, which took place in Thessaloniki last month, as well as examples of good practices highlighted through the Picobello project on the Interreg Europe platform.
In the interactive part of the meeting, participants had the opportunity to:
💬 discuss the findings of the previous Local Stakeholders Group (LSG) meeting, focusing on challenges and opportunities (SWOT) in applying NEB principles locally,
💡 explore participatory design tools such as the Participation Ladder,
💬 assess their organizations’ current level of participation, and
💡 exchange ideas on how to create tangible and lasting impact in Thessaloniki’s communities.
The event once again confirmed the importance of collaborative, participatory approaches in shaping more sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetically inspiring local environments in line with the vision of the New European Bauhaus.
