The Transnational Online Co-Creation Workshop (Transnational Design Thinking Workshop), implemented by the Business and Cultural Development Centre (KEPA) within the framework of the European project GREENSMES, attracted particularly strong interest.
The aim of the transnational workshop was to activate the next step of the joint co-creation process being developed within the project, bringing together representatives from the academic and research community, public authorities, and organizations supporting small and medium-sized enterprises from different countries of the Adriatic–Ionian region. Through the transnational exchange of experiences, knowledge, and good practices, participants were invited to actively contribute to exploring ways to strengthen cooperation between research and entrepreneurship, with the goal of promoting green innovation.
The transnational workshop built upon the nine (9) local co-creation workshops implemented in the partners’ regions. These included the Greek local workshop entitled “Development of Innovative Green Entrepreneurship Practices,” during which the needs, challenges, and prospects of the green transition at the local level were presented and discussed. During the transnational workshop, the key results and conclusions of the local activities were briefly presented, highlighting common challenges as well as opportunities for cooperation at the transnational level.
Participants worked in mixed transnational groups and took part in interactive co-creation activities using the digital tools Zoom and MIRO. This process enhanced collaboration, creative dialogue, and the exchange of ideas, contributing to the collective exploration of proposals that can support businesses and organizations in transitioning to more sustainable and green operating models.
The central question of the workshop was the following challenge:
“How might we facilitate successful transnational interaction between R & D and business community towards green innovation”.
The discussions and group work led to the formulation of shared directions and priorities, which will be utilized in shaping a common strategy and action plan for the Adriatic–Ionian region.
The workshop highlighted the importance of cooperation and knowledge exchange at the transnational level, as well as the role of co-creation as a key mechanism for developing shared approaches to green innovation. The outcomes of this process will be used in the upcoming activities of the GREENSMES project, implemented under the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme.
