The PICOBELLO Interreg Europe partnership met in Katowice and the Silesian region for a three-day study visit focused on how the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles can be integrated into regional and local development policies.
The visit combined strategic reflection, peer learning and on-site experience.
📍Day 1 | Good Practices Exchange
Partners exchanged good practices from all participating regions, presenting concrete policy approaches related to sustainability, inclusion and quality of living spaces. The programme continued with participatory workshops using creative methods, including a hands-on stamping technique, to explore co-creation, citizen engagement and the role of design in public policy.
The environmental organization mamagea – which we highlighted as a good practice both at a local and at a project level – presented to all participants of the transnational meeting the Edible Forest project, through which it managed to bring the environment, education and citizens closer to the daily life of the local community.
📍Day 2 | Study visits and real-life examples
The second day was fully dedicated to study visits, allowing partners to experience how policy instruments translate into tangible outcomes. Participants visited cultural and creative spaces supported through the City of Katowice’s “Lokal na kulturę” initiative, the NOSPR Concert Hall in the Culture Zone, as well as the Museum of Tyskie Browary Książęce, part of the Route of Industrial Heritage.
📍Day 3 | Steering Committee and next steps
The visit concluded with the Steering Committee meeting, focused on reviewing project progress, sharing key insights and defining next steps for the implementation and transfer of good practices across partner regions.
