DCP Peer learning workshop, 5th-6th February 2020
DCP project peer-learning workshop took place at Estonian Design Centre’s premises in Tallinn, on 5th and 6th of February 2020. This 2-days workshop aimed at exchanging expertise among the three partners (KEPA – Greece, PDR – UK & EDC – Estonia), as regards to commonly addressing an urban social challenge with the participation of local SMEs.
More specifically, the representatives of the partners – members of the peer-learning group-, presented a series of services, programmes and projects for social problem solving with the use of Design methodology, in order to identify their advantages and the disadvantages, and to track those which serve to the development of a standard procedure of tackling a social challenge, engaging the local SMEs.
The main purposes of the workshop were, to strengthen the capacity of the participants regarding rendering services to solve social challenges and their ability to design and implement such projects, by exploiting the experience and know-how of local SMEs. At the same time, the participants co-identified the components of the final project deliverable -Design Option Paper-, which will be further developed over the next few months. The DOP will be used as a «guide» – «guidebook» for other similar agencies to tackle social challenges with the active involvement of local SMEs throughout the Design process. It is worthy to mention that during the DCP project, the consortium partners will use the DOP in order to test it, by solving a social challenge following its recommendations.
Additionally, during the workshop, the consortium had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Janno Siimar, the Design Lead of Velvet Design Agency, and to discuss about the social challenge solving methodology through Design.
