For the fourth consecutive year, Business and Cultural Development Center – KEPA and microSTARS have been actively involved in the campaign for the European Microfinance Day, an initiative of the European Microfinance Network (EMN) and the Microfinance Center (MFC), organising “Fintech in Greece, Empowering tomorrow’s entrepreneurs” event, hosted at the premises of OK!Thess on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
The goal of this extremely successful event was to raise public awareness on microcredit as a tool that can be used to tackle unemployment and social exclusion, but above all to empower modern and future entrepreneurs through the application of new technologies, such as blockchain, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.
The event was opened by the Mayor of Thessaloniki -Mr. Konstantinos Zervas- speech, who noted that the Municipality of Thessaloniki supports innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging the development of start-up businesses. After that, the floor was given to KEPA’s President, Mr. Thomas – Fokion Alianakoglou, who emphasized the importance of developing the new framework for the microfinance law, to be voted on.
The event was co-ordinated by EMEA.media journalist and founder Yiannis Dionatos, whose contribution was crucial to a constructive dialogue, with undeniable interest from participants.
During the event, the participants had also the opportunity to learn about the ‘Financial Instruments for Innovation – InnovaFI‘ project, funded by the INTERREG EUROPE Program, in which KEPA is a member of the partnership.
