The GREENSMES project kicked off during the period from 12th to 14th of November 2024 in Bari – Puglia – Italy. This 3-day transnational event, organised by the GREENSMES project lead partner “TECNOPOLIS”, was a multi-layered experience for the project partners and their stakeholders.
The programme started on November 12th with the official kick-off meeting, with the project partners wrapping up their implementation plans and tasks, as already discussed during the previous online preliminary sessions.
The following day (November 13th) was dedicated to the Learning and Exchange Visit. The participants had the opportunity to visit the magnificent Palazzo dell’ Acqua and learn more about AQP – Acquedotto Pugliese, one of the largest integrated water service companies in Italy, which was followed by a meeting at the Municipality of Bari. Later, the delegation was transferred to the city Castellana Grotte, where they were informed about the green practices of the Municipality and then visited an impressive aquaponic farm – developed under AWARE project – that uses treated wastewater for the aquaponic cultivation of fish and vegetables.
On November 14th, TECNOPOLIS hosted the first thematic debate on the green economy at the Science and Technology Park. This High-Level Event under the title “Green Business in Puglia: Excellences, Opportunities and Supporting Tools for SMEs” brought together business stakeholders, institutions, and experts to discuss about issues like the challenge of European Green Innovation, Net Zero Manufacturing Systems, Leveraging SMEs Skills and Competences, etc. Overall, the 1st Transnational Meeting of GREENSMES can be characterized as a successful one, having offered opportunities for knowledge, networking and inspiration.
