
The Municipality of Herceg Novi, through its Secretariat for Tourism, Economic Development, and Investments, hosted the 3rd transnational two-day “Learning and Exchange Visit” within the framework of the project GREENSMES – Interreg ADRION. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for project partners to gain insights into local and national practices in the areas of circular economy, green transition, and sustainable development. The visit was attended by representatives from the project partners. Throughout the event, attendees had the chance to explore how sustainable practices are being implemented at both the local and national levels, contributing to the broader green agenda.
The official opening of the first day was marked by a welcome speech by Ivan Otović, President of the Municipal Assembly of Herceg Novi. His speech highlighted the importance of international cooperation in advancing the green agenda and emphasized the role of cooperation in driving the green transition. The programme continued with a series of presentations and discussions. Ilija Peulić, from the Secretariat for Ecology and Energy Efficiency, provided valuable insights into local experiences and projects in the circular economy. Ranko Lazović from the ECO Fund also provided an overview of national sustainable development policies, while Prof. Dr. Nikša Grgurević gave a presentation on sustainable economic development. A particular highlight of the event was the focus on local initiatives. The Morić family presented their rural household as a model of successful sustainable business, showing how sustainable practices can be integrated into everyday life. Milica Boca from the NGO “Don’t Throw Bottles” also shared the organization’s vision and efforts to protect the environment, inspiring participants with her commitment to sustainability.
Locations visited
On the second day, the project partners had the opportunity to visit local examples of good practice. The visits included the Baldo Company, which demonstrated innovative use of robotics in business. The rural household Palikuća, which exemplifies sustainable eco-business through the promotion and preservation of tradition, as well as a commitment to the green transition.
The two-day event in Herceg Novi successfully brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including project partners, local and national institutions, the NGO sector, and local initiatives. This exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas on green transition and circular economy was a significant step forward in strengthening collaboration across the region. The field visits and direct engagement with local good practices further motivated participants to implement similar models in their own countries, helping to drive the green agenda forward.
